We’re absolutely tickled pink to be recently featured in Over the Mountain Journal, sharing the story behind Woodhill Cottage and our heartfelt mission of honoring family food traditions. Founded by Birmingham attorney Jenny McCain, Woodhill Cottage is a labor of love inspired by her family's rich history of home-cooked goodness.
What began as a tribute to her grandparents' kitchen has grown into a flourishing business creating jams and conserves made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. For Jenny, balancing a demanding legal career with her entrepreneurial passion has been a rewarding journey, allowing her to blend her love of family traditions with her drive to create and innovate.
Jenny's story reflects her deep ties to her roots, from spending time in her grandmother’s kitchen learning cherished recipes to witnessing her family's entrepreneurial spirit through her great-grandfather's business.
She attributes her creative vision and business acumen to these formative influences, crafting each Woodhill Cottage product with the same care and love that went into her family's original recipes. "We spent hours together conjuring in the kitchen and talking business," she fondly recalls. Today, she channels those memories into unique flavors that resonate with customers and celebrate the joy of sharing homemade treats.
As the holidays approach, we’re especially excited to bring our jams, conserves and recipe ideas to festive tables. From crowd-pleasing favorites like Peach-Pear Pecan Pie, that was featured in this article, to the simple pleasures of adding Tomato Jam to ham biscuits, Woodhill Cottage is all about infusing warmth and tradition into every bite.
We are so grateful for the incredible response from customers across the country and for this opportunity to share our story with the Over the Mountain Journal readers. This recognition truly means the world to us as we continue building a business rooted in love, legacy, and creativity.
